NEET UG 2026 New Rules: MCC Introduces Major Changes for Medical Admissions 

MCC New Guidelines NEET UG 2026: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has introduced major NEET UG Counselling 2026 Changes under the MCC New Guidelines NEET UG 2026 for the NEET UG 2026 Counselling process. The changes are introduced to provide transparent, convenient, and student-friendly medical admissions to the applicants. The new MCC Counselling Guidelines 2026 issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare focus on reducing the need for repeated physical visits, speeding up the counselling process, and improving the overall experience for lakhs of medical aspirants across the country. 

The committee has also introduced the NEET UG counselling online resignation facility through the MCC portal, providing the opportunity for aspirants to surrender their seats without visiting the allotted center physically. Candidates who receive the upgraded seat in different counselling rounds can confirm their seat online and are not required to physically attend the college they were initially allotted.

Moreover, the NEET UG 2026 NRI quota document upload facility allows candidates applying under the NRI quota to submit the required documents digitally, making the verification process easier. Alongside these reforms, MCC has directed colleges to publish complete information on fees, seat availability, bond policies, and stipends before choice filling. What are the Major Changes in NEET UG 2026 Counselling?

• No Physical Reporting Needed for Seat Upgradation: Students who receive a better seat in a later round of counselling are not required to visit their previously allotted college physically. This major change will help the applicants save their time, travel expenses, and paperwork. Students will only need to report physically when they finally join the college where their admission is confirmed. 

• Online Resignation Facility Introduced: MCC has also introduced the online resignation facility, in which the students can resign from their allotted seat directly through the MCC counselling portal, making the process much easier and quicker. 

• Easier Process for NRI Quota Candidates: The another biggest change in the NEET UG Counselling 2026 is that candidates who are applying under the NRI quota can now upload their NRI-related documents online through the MCC portal. This will help the candidates to avoid visiting the institutions only for document submission and verification. 

• More Transparency During Counselling: To provide the details before the counselling and help students make informed decisions, MCC has directed participating colleges and counselling authorities to provide clear details about Availability seats, Fee structure, Bond conditions, Stipend information (where applicable), and Other admission-related details. This will help the candidates to fill in their choices online with less confusion during counselling. 

• Training for Colleges and State Authorities: For ensuring that the new system is working smoothly, MCC has started training programmes for state counselling authorities and medical colleges. These sessions help the institutions to implement the revised online procedures without delays or technical issues.
