As per the latest data, India has a total of 1,36,939 MBBS seats under the NMC MBBS Seat Matrix 2026 in 823 medical colleges. It is to be noted that this seat matrix does not include the seats of Institutes of National Importance (INIs) like AIIMS and JIPMER, as the admissions to these institutes are managed separately.
